THE ABOUT PAGE
Origin: Where the Search
for Peace Began
This site began with a phrase a loved one used to say, and a desire to honor it by helping others find what she was describing.
Why This Story Exist
Why This Place Exists
I Just want some peace.
Those five words belong to my sister. She said them often, without explanation, without a story behind them. I didn’t understand then. I do now.
WHERE THIS BEGAN
When I was in my early thirties, my sister, about ten years older than me would say it plainly and without elaboration: I just want some peace. At the time, life for me was good. I made careful choices. I believed that intention kept chaos at bay. I couldn’t quite relate. But those five words stayed with me anyway.
Years later, they found me. In 2025, my mother was diagnosed with dementia. With that diagnosis came grief, responsibility, and family tension I never anticipated. I had reached a stage in life where I believed things were supposed to get easier. Instead, I found myself navigating a level of chaos I was not prepared for. That is when I finally understood my sister’s words, not as a complaint, but as a truth.
WHY I STARTED WRITING
I’ve thought about starting a blog many times. I’ve written stories and tucked them away, never quite knowing what to do with them. What finally moved me was a lake, a quiet afternoon, and the realization that sitting there with a pen in hand was the only place my mind could rest.
This blog was born in that stillness after the noise, after the stress, after the endless search for answers. That’s when I understood I wasn’t looking for solutions. I was looking for peace. My name is Suzanne, and this space is my way of honoring that search.
WHY I WRITE
I write because it brings me peace. It calms me and gives my thoughts somewhere to land. When I write, I am intentional about my surroundings, low lights in a quiet room, a park bench, or a long trail where I dictate while I walk. The setting matters because writing, for me, is a practice. It is how I find my way back to center.
WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY
I find peace in simple things. Nature grounds me, long walks on quiet trails where the trees close in and sometimes you are the only one there. Real conversations with family about life, dreams, and what brings them joy. Shared meals with friends, evenings shaped by the day’s news and whatever life has placed in front of us. Anything that keeps my mind engaged in a purposeful, grounded way. Something that energizes rather than drains.
That is what I hope this site does for you too.
A WORD BEFORE YOU EXPLORE
Some of what you find here will be my story.
Some will feel so familiar you’ll wonder if I was in the room with you.
That is the point.
You are not behind. You are not alone.
And this is not the end of your story.
Whatever brought you here today, curiosity, exhaustion, hope, or just a quiet Tuesday, you are welcome. Pull up a chair. Stay a while.
